The Idea

This studio based shoot on kids' health issues, is built around very simple, emotionally effective compositions.

Background

Photographer Daniel Pangbourne has his own great studio in South London and is predominately a kids photographer in advertising. His eye for the gestures of children is particularly striking in this shoot. The squeamishness of taking medicine, their need for comfort when ill, and the complete sense of trust and openness.

We had four great kids of different ages throughout the day and lots of different healthcare props. All the kids were healthy and bubbly, the make-up artist Sarah did a great job of making them look ill with fake scratches and runny noses! And yet the measure of the photographer’s skill is to create images of real warmth and sympathy.
